Alternating Current
Brand Guide
This is by far one of my most involved and time consuming projects. The brand guide used all of the skills I’ve learned so far including typography, layout, and most importantly brand identity. The identity is kept consistent throughout all of the works designed to represent a restaurant that is modern and local and always inviting to new and old customers alike. The restaurant is themed after Nikola Tesla and his many experiments and patents including alternating current electricity.
Designing the logo was the trickiest part for me. Trying to find a balance between a cafe and Nikola Tesla’s blueprint style was challenging and I found myself leaning more and more towards science terms for my inspiration. After a while I realized that it was getting me nowhere so I reversed directions and reminded myself of what was truly important here: the restaurant. I started researching the kinds of things that go into making a successful cafe/bar and came away with lots of interesting visuals of drink glasses that I used for my final inspiration. The logo I created is styled after an Irish coffee glass, and with the addition of the electricity spike on the inside I was finished and happy with my work.
